A place for Hip-Hop

It’s a little old, but I just came across it today. Solillaquist of Sound is doing it right. The group is offering its latest single for 2 dollars or more, depending on how much you want to donate. 100% of the proceeds go to J Dilla’s mother. It gets better. The track is a collaboration of artists featuring J Live, Chali 2na and Ma Dukes herself.

Being that J Dilla was a musical hero to many of us, we chose to pay tribute to him in song for the new SoS album. And knowing of the troubles that his mother has endured (not only during the time of Dilla’s illness but also since his passing) with her own health, living situation, and estrangement with the executors of Dilla’s estate, we decided to pay tribute to her as well.. in action.

Racist or clueless, which best describes the MTV Hip-Hop Brain trust. At kanyesucks we understand that we are not going to get much real Hip-Hop content from MTV. Pop stars like Kanye, Jeezy, and Drake is what we have come to expect. But when they put out a Top 10 Hottest MC’s in the game and it doesn’t include Eminem really makes you wonder, what the hell are they smoking. What is the basis for this list? It can’t be album sales or general popularity. Eminem had over 35% of the public votes, is the number one selling Hip-Hop MC of all time, with a platinum album in 2009. 50 Cent is on the list and he has not had a album since 2007, not that we feel he should included if he had.

MTV needs to hire some employees that actually are in-touch with hip-hop, and get rid of The “HIP-HOP” Brain Trust, starting with the ignorant Shaheem. Someone need to let that guy know he is not famous; artist kiss his ass only to get play on MTV.

Kanye is such a bad MC, its astonishing that anyone can listen to him. Its got to be the catchy production that pulls people in. If people actually listened to the Lyrics they might realize he is as big of a prick in his songs as he is in real life.
